Help Advance ATTR Amyloidosis Research

More than 50,000 individuals worldwide are living with ATTR Amyloidosis. Better medicine and treatment options are needed for ATTR Amyloidosis in order to save thousands of people each year. The goal of our study is to detect and quantify misfolded forms of TTR that are found in blood plasma from patients with ATTR amyloidosis and correlate these levels with disease. This will be done by using a proprietary assay developed by Prothena. Our aim is to assess the misfolded forms of TTR in treated and untreated patients as well as asymptomatic patients. Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be compensated for my time?

As a thank you for your time, we will provide you with a $50 Visa gift card for each home visit you participate in. You will receive the gift card immediately after the at-home blood collection appointment is completed.

When can I withdraw from the study?

You can withdraw from the study or decline participation at any time without providing a reason.

How much blood will be collected?

During the study visit, up to 10 mL (approximately 1 tablespoon) of blood will be collected by venipuncture. Only one tube of blood will be taken during the blood draw. You may be asked to participate in additional blood collections.

Why should I donate blood for research?

The reasons are endless. By donating blood, you are part of a process that may help researchers detect diseases earlier, and develop new therapeutics, diagnostics, and treatments for ATTR Amyloidosis.

Do I need to have health insurance?

No. You do not need to have health insurance in order to qualify for the study.

Who can donate blood for the research study?

Are you willing to donate blood from the comfort of your own home? Are you currently diagnosed with hATTR or wtATTR Amyloidosis and over the ages of 18? If you answered yes to these questions, then you could be an excellent candidate to donate for the study.
